Married couple Katie, 29, and Alex, 32, abandoned Canberra in 2016 for a rustic off-the-grid lifestyle in the Southern Tablelands of NSW.
WHO caught up with the pair.
The off-the-grid cottage in NSW’s Southern Tablelands this married couple moved to in 2016 is the type of place estate agents would describe optimistically as a “renovator’s dream”.
“It’s small and falling down,” federal police officer Alex, 32, says.
Katie, 29, a midwife and stay-at-home mum to 1-year-old daughter Hallie, adds: “We’ve always seen the potential in this place.”
Having both grown up in the country, the couple, who met in 2014, are all for living an eco lifestyle.
“That doesn’t mean candles and pedalling for our electricity. It just means sustainable, innovative ways to give back to the environment,” Alex says.
