The renovation of Mel and Dave’s Hope Island home on the Gold Coast almost proved too much for Chiara and David and after all of the blood, sweat and tears they put into their zone, the couple have called out Mel and Dave for the low scores they gave them. The Perth-based couple were put in charge of the dining nook, hallway and laundry and despite their best efforts, Mel and Dave only awarded them a four out of ten. “That to me was pretty harsh,” said Chiara.

While Mel and Dave did have some positive feedback for Chiara and David, most of it was pretty negative and the dining nook was a definite failure in their eyes. “The dining nook… it didn’t deliver for us this week,” said Mel. “You created a bench as opposed to, we assumed it would be more like a booth. The way you had the cabinet and the table there just wasn’t enough room and it didn’t deliver this week for us.”

Mel and Dave’s decision to award such a low score left Chiara and David gobsmacked. “It is a kick in the teeth from another team,” said David. Chiara agreed, saying: “To me they’re playing the game hard.” And it wasn’t only Chiara and David who thought the scoring was a low blow. “Pretty harsh actually, I think,” said Michelle.

Meanwhile, mother and daughter team Kim and Michelle are now on the top of leaderboard, after being award a nine out of ten for their zone, which included the master bedroom and mud room. “I must say you delivered our favourite room of the house,” said Mel. “Hats off to you, the mudroom far exceeded our expectations and we couldn’t fault it.”
