According to Police, the remains of an adult human have been discovered in the same place where William Tyrrell body vanished in mid-north New South Wales in 2014.
The remains are believed to belong to an adult, however, there are no fresh reports of anyone missing in the area.
On Dec. 27, police were spotted surrounding a small area on Yarratt Road, Upper Lansdowne, after a crew from the rural fire service discovered the body at approximately 6.10am while putting out a small fire.
A post-mortem examination will take place in order to confirm the identity of the body and the cause of death.
This comes after reports on Dec. 19 that the William Tyrrell inquest was to open in March, as police continue to chase ’active leads.’
Counsel assisting the coroner, Gerard Craddock SC, appeared in court and revealed it wasn’t possible — at present — to conclude William was in fact dead.
“The police investigation into his disappearance is ongoing and police are following active leads at present,” Mr Craddock said.
He said the fact that William was in foster care, combined with his disappearance and the circumstances of his disappearance, meant there was jurisdiction to hold an inquest.
The body of William has never been found and no one has been charged over his disappearance as yet.
