NRL star Jarryd Hayne has been accused of raping a woman in the United States whilst he played for NFL team the San Francisco 49ers.
According to The Mercury News, Hayne engaged in nonconsensual sexual intercourse with “Ms. V” in December 2015.
The civil case was reportedly filed in Santa Clara County on Tuesday.
The Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office reviewed and rejected the criminal case for insufficient evidence in October last year.
According to the civil suit filed this week, the victim was a virgin at the time and was afraid to come forward for several months following the alleged rape.
