There’s nothing we love more than a juicy Kardashian scandal, but this time it’s Kanye West who’s found himself in hot water after a celebratory tweet in honour of his wife Kim Kardashian officially becoming a billionaire.
Taking to Twitter, Kanye uploaded the interesting image of fresh tomatoes and flowers laid out in the sun with a loving tribute to his wife of six years.
“I am so proud of my beautiful wife Kim Kardashian West for officially becoming a billionaire. You’ve weathered the craziest storms and now God is shining on you and our family. So blessed this is still life. So I made you this still life. We love you so much,” he wrote.
Despite his good intentions though, Twitter users criticised the rapper’s poor wording and timing in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic that has seen many around the world lose jobs and suffer financially.
“Cool dude. 45 million Americans are unemployed right now,” one unimpressed Twitter user wrote.
Another wrote: “Congrats on being a billionaire? That’s what matters? Especially right now? You are tone deaf and ridiculous.”
“Accumulating wealth isn’t the biggest accomplishment, & I thought u & @KimKardashian were evolved enough to know that. Furthermore, real rich people have enough tact to nevertheless brag about or disclose the actual sum of their worth,” penned another.
One even referenced a famous line uttered by Kourtney Kardashian on Keeping Up With The Kardashians remarking: “Kim, there’s people that are dying. Redistribute your wealth. No one needs a billion dollars.”
The congratulatory message follows an explosive report by The Sun that revealed Kim and Kanye, who have been married since 2014, have been at loggerheads during the lockdown period.
“Kim and Kanye are arguing and at each other’s throats during this pandemic,” the source told the publication.
“Kim is getting stir crazy, as she’s used to being on the go. It’s also a lot of time alone with the kids for her. She is frustrated with Kanye and thinks he’s not pulling his weight in family responsibilities. They’ve been staying at opposite ends of the house to keep things civil.”
However, the couple who share four children together – North, seven, Saint, four, Chicago, two and Psalm, one – were all smiles when they celebrated eldest daughter North’s recent birthday.
The family, along with Kim’s eldest sister Kourtney, were snapped celebrating at their Wyoming ranch and passed the time go-karting and horse-riding.
“Happy 7th Birthday to my first born baby North! I can’t believe you are 7,” Kim wrote in a birthday tribute to North on June 15. “Crazy how time has flown by so fast like this! You are everything and more than I ever dreamed of! The most stylist creative Gemini performer ever! I love you to your alien planet and back!”
