It’s been almost a year since Lara Worthington came home from her base in Los Angeles, but the Aussie star’s upcoming trip might not be her usual fleeting visit.

The 33-year-old is set to return to native soil with husband Sam, 44, and their three children while he takes on a role in the Sydney Theatre Company’s production of Appropriate.

The actor is set to star in the dark comedy at the Roslyn Packer Theatre in Sydney in March next year, with the show’s production schedule likely to see the Worthington clan in Australia for an extended period of time.

“I’m excited Sam Worthington will be joining the cast of Appropriate,” shared the play’s director, Wesley Enoch.

“He’s a great homegrown talent and it will be great to see him on our stages again.”

It will be an exciting visit for the new family of five, with the couple able to introduce their youngest member to family and old friends. Lara and Sam quietly welcomed another son – whose name they are yet to reveal – in May.

And while the former model has previously shared they enjoy the fact they’re able to “live a really normal life” in the States, she is no doubt excited to finally be reunited with her mum, Sharon Bingle, who reportedly hasn’t been able to meet their newest addition due to pandemic travel restrictions.

Bingle last visited Lara and sons Rocket, 5, and Racer, 4, earlier this year but was forced to return home to Australia in March – where she spent 14 days in quarantine upon her arrival in Sydney – before baby number three’s arrival.

Lara has become accustomed to uprooting her life to follow her hubby’s work.

“We travel everywhere together and we never have more than two weeks apart from each other – and that really works for us,” she previously revealed of how they keep their relationship strong amid the actor’s busy filming schedule.

And with a newborn in tow, it likely wasn’t even questioned whether Lara and the kids would travel Down Under with Sam – especially with the Avatar star being such a hands-on dad.

“He’s just so good with the kids, he does the night feeds and everything – he is seriously superhuman,” Lara has shared of her husband, whom she married in an intimate ceremony in 2014.

“And Sam will work a 17-hour day … my days seriously do not compare to his at all.”

But this work trip is likely more special than most, with Lara also able to rely on family and close friends during their extended stay.

“I always love coming back to Sydney,” Worthington shared with Vogue Australia on her last trip home in November 2019.

Having sold their family abode in Los Angeles back in February, the question now remains where Lara and Sam may next call home with their three boys.

And with the actor spending more time in New Zealand over the next year or two to finish the Avatar sequels, a more permanent move Down Under doesn’t seem totally off the cards just yet.
