This week fans were devastated to hear that Love Child will no longer return to our screens for a fifth season. And now one of the show’s stars, Sophie Hensser – who plays Vivan Maguire – has broken her silence on Instagram.
Alongside a black and white photo featuring fellow castmates, Ella Scott Lynch, Gracie Gilbert, Miranda Tapsell, Jessica Marais and Harriet Dryer, Hessner shared a heartfelt letter to her loyal fans of the show.
“To the beautiful fans of @9lovechild, thank you for coming on this journey with us across four incredible seasons. It was truly an honour to be a part of this family and to get to tell this story.”
“Playing Viv has been the greatest joy and I will miss her and this world so very much, and know that they will stay with me for a life time. Thank you for supporting Australian stories, I am so proud of what we made and am sending big love to the entire cast, crew and all the creatives who’s tireless efforts, enormous talents and hearts went into making this show.”
“Thank you Sarah Lambert for creating this show, to Playmaker and Nine for bringing it to life. I can’t wait to work with each and every one of you again.”
Before she thanked the women and children of the 70s who were the inspiration behind the Channel 9 drama.
“A very special thank you to the women and children who’s stories inspired ours, it was an honour and an education, one which I won’t soon forget. Until then 💕💕💕💕💕💕💕 #lovechild #9lovechild#aussiedrama #aussietv.”
The star, 28, then shared a final snap from the set and simply captioned it: “That’s all folks. ❤️ #lovechild“
Fans of the show were quick to respond to her sad post. “noooooooooooooo 😢😢😢😢,” one wrote.
“@hensoir devastated. Thank you for such a wonderful show 💓”, another commented.
“Honestly didn’t think anything could be worse than Patty’s death but channel 9 have proved me wrong… so sad that it’s all over, they’ve made a huge mistake!” one more passionate viewer declared.
Ah, it’s the end of an era!
