The future of the Nine reality show is said to be “up in the air” following consistently low ratings during the current second season.
“We’re not discussing where we’re at with series three but FYI Sophie (Monk) featured in a live cross from the Love Island villa at the recent 2020 Upfront (programming launch),” a spokesperson told The Daily Telegraph.
A network spokesperson added to Daily Mail Australia: ‘We will make an announcement about the next season of Love Island when we make a final decision.’
Despite the show being a hit in the UK, the Australian version has only managed to pull in a somewhat average rating of 494,000 viewers during its premiere on October 7. However viewers had dropped to 240,000 by the fourth episode.
In comparison, Love Island’s rival, The Bachelorette managed to pull in 716,000 viewers for its season premiere.
