And now, the 33-year-old father-of-three has opened up about exactly how he has spent the money.

“I’m a homeowner now, I’m a 33-year-old home owner,” he told Perth Now, explaining the money raised had enabled him to pay off his mortgage.

However, while the TV star may now be mortgage-free, Luke insists his life is still very much the same and he still goes to work and has no intention of quitting his job.

“I get up at 4am, I get changed, at the train station by 5, work by 6, I’m still doing the same things,” he said.

“I’ve got a good job I’m going to hold on to probably forever.”

He said he’s also been able to give back, donating some of the money to charity, and he has plans to give away more.

Fans rallied round Luke after his shock eviction from Australian Survivor earlier this year, setting up a GoFundMe page to help raise $500,000, the prize money Luke would have been given had he won the show.

However, the amount raised quickly exceeded $500k and Luke and his wife, Mary made the decision to shut down the account and donate the extra money raised to charity.

Luke originally entered the competition – which was won by actress Pia Miranda – in a bid to help his young family.

Luke and Mary are parents to nine-month-old daughter, Madeline, who suffers from cystic fibrosis and sons Lennox, seven, and Nate, five, who both have autism.
