He’s made a name for himself on the hugely popular My Kitchen Rules, but Manu Feildel has revealed he was left ‘devastated’ after losing the chance to host Ten’s Masterchef in 2009 – and it was all because network bosses thought his French accent was too strong.
‘At the time to miss out on MasterChef was very disappointing,’ he told news.com.au.
‘They had invited every chef on the planet and I got so far and got to the last audition.’
The 44-year-old added: ‘My French accent had been a good thing until that day. [It was] devastating.’
The coveted role eventually went to Matt Preston. However, just one year later Seven went on to five Feidel a starring role on My Kitchen Rules.
