While all the other couples were mingling on Episode 8 of Married At First Sight, Elizabeth was preparing to enter the packed dinner party – alone.
“I’m over it,” she tells producers. “I don’t have a husband!”
After being abandoned by Sam at their honeymoon, the blonde reveals, “I don’t know where he is.”
“It’s just getting beyond the point of ridiculousness,” Elizabeth continues.
Entering the soiree alone, all eyes turn. “Where’s her husband?” someone yells, while expert Dr. Trisha Stratford says, “No Sam?”
Mick chimes in, “Is Sam the runaway bride?”
Staying positive, the bubbly store manager tells producers, “Entering the dinner party alone – not ideal, but you do what you’ve gotta do.”
Luckily her fellow brides were there.
“We’re all here to support you,” Lauren says. Jules then takes the floor. “Excuse me, guys, Lizzie just wants to have an open conversation.”
Sitting round in a circle, Lizzie answers the question that everyone wants to know. What happened to Sam?
“First of all, did everyone have a good honeymoon,” she asks, as she’s then asked, “How was your honeymoon?”
“No honeymoon,” Lizzie confesses.
“I think the wedding was a bit of a shock,” she says, before revealing that Sam said he had to leave for an overseas funeral – to do with his ex-girlfriend.
But during the dinner party, Sam makes an unexpected entry. “Honey I’m home,” is the first thing he says.
“How are you?” he asks, pecking his clearly pissed-off bride on the cheek.
“Oh I want to hear your story first,” Lizzie replies.
“Where have you been, tell us everything,” Heidi says.
“So basically, I looked through my phone and had a few messages and my ex had contacted me saying her mother had passed away,” Sam admits. “I was very close with my ex and her family and so I had to do it.”
But everyone wanted to know why he hadn’t made contact since. He tries to say he doesn’t have his voicemail set up, but Liz shows her calling him and it going to voicemail.
“I didn’t call because I don’t have your number. You’re so angry, you should relax and just breathe,” Sam tells Lizzie boldly.
“He looks so calm and happy,” Stratford observes.
Expert John Aitken says, “He’s brushed it because there’s no issue for him.”
