It started with the dropping of a few cryptic clues. Prince Harry and actress Meghan Markle were spotted wearing matching blue beaded bracelets, picked up by the prince on a trip to Africa. Around the same time, Markle shared her joy at receiving deliveries of bouquets of peonies, her favourite flower. “Swooning over these,” she captioned one of the first photos, with the hashtag, #spoiledrotten.
By October 2016, the star’s not-so-secret admirer was revealed to the world. “Despite the distance, the media attention and everything else, there’s a real ease to their relationship,” a source told WHO at the time. “They are deeply happy.”
It became clear just how strongly Harry felt about Meghan a month later, when he spoke out to defend her against “the outright sexism and racism of social media trolls and web article comments” that created a “wave of abuse and harassment.” The unprecedented statement was the first official confirmation that they were dating.
“I fell in love with Meghan so incredibly quickly,” the prince, 33, would later say. “It was a confirmation to me that all the stars were aligned. This beautiful woman literally tripped and fell into my life.
Since their engagement, Meghan is relishing—and nailing—her new role. “Meghan has been regularly making private visits to organisations as she gets to know the UK charity sector,” a palace source tells WHO. “She’s on a very busy schedule behind the scenes. She has her wedding preparation and is meeting a number of people all the time.”
Readying to say ‘I do’ in front of around 600 guests on May 19 at St. George’s Chapel, “This wedding, like all weddings, will be a moment of fun and joy,” their office at Kensington Palace said in a press release.
