Actress Janina Gavankar took the adorable photograph which features the Duke and Duchess of Sussex in the background, while little Archie takes centerstage.
Several media outlets have since reported the photo has been doctored, which Gavankar is not true.
“So proud to have taken the Christmas photo for one of my best friends and her family. Here’s the original that was sent out,” the 39-year-old said via Twitter.
In a follow-up tweet she said, “…and to The Mail, I see your campaign against my friend continues. Nice photoshop of my non-photoshopped image. Now may we all get back to the spirit of Christmas and not the spirit of maliciousness.”
Gavankar went on to share the original photo, saying The Mail has actually doctored the image themselves.
The card was released last week by a recipient and has since been confirmed at legitimate.
Harry and Meghan are currently on a six week break from royal duties outside of the UK.
The royals have been spotted taking time out on Vancouver Island, with eyewitnesses sharing details about what the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been up to.
Bev Koffel, who owns the Deep Cove Chalet restaurant with her husband Pierre, told the Vancouver Sun that she had seen royal couple around in North Saanich, and had even met with their security guards at the waterfront eatery.
“They said ‘How did you figure out who we were?’ And I said ‘It wasn’t too hard.'”
