Meghan Markle took a small break from mummy duties to make a surprise appearance at Wimbledon on Thursday…just two days after Kate Middleton was spotted at the high-profile tennis competition.

The stylish Duchess of Sussex was spotted on Court One cheering on long-time friend Serena Williams, as the tennis champ took on Kaja Juvan at day four of the London tennis competition.

Everything you need to know about Baby Archie’s christening:

Flanked by two close friends Lindsay Roth and Genevieve Hillis from her days at Northwestern University in the U.S, the 37-year-old adopted a smart-casual approach to the day, donning a white, L’Agence blazer, denim skinny jeans and a Madewell trilby.

However, it was the duchesses choice of jewellery that piqued interest, as eagle-eyed fans noted that the new mum was wearing an “A” necklace in tribute to the two-month-old son she shares with Prince Harry; Archie-Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor.

The necklace is reportedly by Jennifer Meyer and costs £278 ($497 AUD).

Meghan’s surprise outing follows further announcements from Buckingham Palace about baby Archie’s christening on July 6.

In a new statement, the palace revealed: “Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor will be christened in a small private ceremony by the Archbishop of Canterbury in the Private Chapel at Windsor Castle on Saturday 6th July. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex look forward to sharing some images taken on the day by photographer Chris Allerton. The godparents, in keeping with their wishes, will remain private.”

The Duke and Duchess of Sussexes move to make the event private has sparked controversy, given other prominent members of the royal family, such as the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, have previously elected to make the christenings of their children public.
