2020 may have been a tough year for Michelle Bridges, but the fitness queen has admitted that her recent 50th birthday was the best she’d had in years.
Taking to Instagram, the former Biggest Loser trainer shared a professional photograph of herself and reflected on her milestone day.
“Without a doubt. The best birthday I’ve had in years,” Michelle wrote.
“The out pouring of love and friendship from family, friends and supporters. I drove three hours so I could be with my son, who rolled over, threw an arm, and whispered in my ear ‘I love you mumma. Happy birthday mumma’ – I die!”
She added: “I’ve been more spoilt than I ever have, ever, and I’ve thoroughly loved it. I’m finally in bed still going through and answering messages, having been on set all day, it’s wonderful and heartwarming.”
The mum-of-one finished by poignantly remarking: “I’m fifty. I’m free to be me. Happy birthday to me.”
Michelle was flooded with birthday messages in the comments section.
“Happy Birthday Michelle. You’ve been through a lot so I’m so glad to hear you had a great Birthday. Fab at Fifty!” one excited follower penned.
“You cannot be 50 Wonder Woman! Sounds like it was the best day ever and all deserving ! Much love,” wrote another.
“Oh my… this is probably the best post I have ever read/seen. Happy becoming YOU for YOU birthday!” exclaimed a third.
As one would expect for their 50th birthday, Michelle was showered with gifts, including some very special goodies from her friend, singer Anthony Callea.
The fitness entrepreneur shared on her Instagram Stories that Anthony had not only bought her some luxurious Tom Ford fragrances, but also sent three boxes of customised cupcakes.
The sweet treats had various images of Michelle printed on them, including some adorable ones of Michelle cuddling her four-year-old son Axel, whom she shares with her ex Steve ‘The Commando’ Willis.
At the beginning of this year, Michelle not only endured a very public break up, but was also handed a drink-driving charge.
“It’s been a particularly challenging year for me, like it has been for everyone, but I’m moving on,” Michelle told Who earlier this month.
“I feel like what really came from that whole experience for me, aside from the lessons learned going through it at the time, is the beauty of people. The beauty of the support from your family and friends, even strangers.
She added: “It really shone a big light on how powerful humanity can be, just having people reach out. You can often overlook that. The compassion and empathy I was afforded is something I’ll never forget. We all make mistakes. We’re all human.”
