After less than a year of marriage, Michelle Williams and husband Phil Everum have reportedly split.
The couple separated at the beginning of the year just months after they had their secret wedding ceremony last summer.
A source told People magazine: “It was an amicable split and they remain friends.”
38-year-old stepped out on Thursday night for the Fosse/Verdon screening looking less than her usual bubbly self and without her wedding ring.
The Blue Valentine actress exchanged vows in a top secret ceremony seen by only a few friends in the Adirondack Mountains, she told Vanity Fair.
The indie rock artist, Phil, 40, was previously married to Canadian musician Geneviève Castrée for 13 years before she died from inoperable pancreatic cancer in 2016.
Both their daughters were present; she has a 12-year-old daughter named Matilda from her previous relationship with the Heath Ledger and Phil has a 3-year-old daughter from his first marriage.
‘I never gave up on love. I always say to Matilda, “Your dad loved me before anybody thought I was talented, or pretty, or had nice clothes,”‘ she said in the article which was released in July.
Michelle is usually very tight-lipped about her personal life, including her three-year romance with Ledger but she has come forward about her relationship with Phil.
“Ultimately the way he loves me is the way I want to live my life on the whole. I work to be free inside of the moment. I parent to let Matilda feel free to be herself, and I am finally loved by someone who makes me feel free.” she said.
She admitted that it’s difficult talking about Heath even after ten years after he died of cardiac arrest from an accidental overdose.
“I don’t really want to talk about any of it,” she said. “But there’s that tease, that lure, that’s like, ‘What if this helps somebody? What if somebody who has always journeyed in this way, who has struggled as much as I struggled, and looked as much as I looked, finds something that helps them?”
“Don’t settle. Don’t settle for something that feels like a prison, or is hard, or hurts you. If it doesn’t feel like love, it’s not love.” she continued to add.
