Speaking to The Project‘s Lisa Wilkisnon in an exclusive interview to promote her album Plastic Hearts, the topic of Miley’s risque music video for her song Prisoner came up.

At the end of the music video, it says “In loving memory of all my exes. Eat s***.”

When Lisa asked if that was for exes to make sure the exes didn’t get confused that the video might be about them, Miley responded: “I think life can be very painful and sometimes poking fun at it and laughing along with it, like I always feel like life is laughing at me and pulling its strings and just creating whatever chaos that it wants to.”

She added: “It doesn’t take it easy on us so I think that that was a way I was able to kind of fight back at that and poke a little fun at it, create something that was campy and that was kind of the perfect bookend for what we made.”

The revelation comes a week after Miley explained what led to the downfall between her and ex-husband Liam Hemsworth, whom she married in December 2018 and broke up with eight months later.

“There was too much conflict,” Miley revealed on the Howard Stern Show.

“When I come home, I want to be anchored by someone. I don’t get off on drama or fighting.”

But despite the drama, the Midnight Sky singer confessed that she would always love her ex-husband, whom she was with on and off for 10 years.

Speaking about the California wildfires that destroyed her and Liam’s home in 2018, Miley explained that the trauma prompted them to get married.

“I just clung to what I had left of that house, which was me and him. And I really do and did love him very, very, very much and still do, always will,” she confessed.

Miley may be making fun of her heartache now, but had previously spoken about her “very public divorce” on the Joe Rogan Experience podcast, remarking that it “f***ing sucked”.

“What really sucked about it wasn’t the fact that me and someone that I loved realised that we don’t love each other the way that we used to anymore. That’s okay. I can accept that,” she explained.

“I can’t accept the villainising and all those stories that like—it’s just amazing to me that the public kind of thinks that there’s no gap of time that they didn’t see that could possibly be what led to this.”

Plastic Hearts is Miley’s seventh studio album and fans reckon one of the hit songs from it is about Brody Jenner’s ex, Kaitlynn Carter, whom Miley dated shortly after her split from Liam.

One telling lyric in Angels Like You reads: “I know that you’re wrong for me, gonna wish we never met on the day I leave I brought you down to your knees, ’cause they say that misery loves company, it’s not your fault I ruin everything and it’s not your fault I can’t be what you need.”

One fan stated on social media: “Sorry but i still think angels like you is about Kaitlynn and you won’t change my mind.”

Another mused: “I refuse to think angel like you is about Liam because she can’t drag him in every other song than turn around and say he’s an angel. I feel like that song is about Kaitlynn Carter. Maybe Cody but def not Liam.”
