While most of the contestants couldn’t pronounce half of the dishes on the menu, they appeared to change their mind when the food came out.

Davide explains he had an emotional attachment to the first dish “I’m feeling really confident, my mum taught me how to make this dish, so I’d be really happy to make mum proud.”

Celebrity chef Pete Evans described it as “Yum!” and “Just what an eggplant parmigiana should taste like.” However, things turned sour as the controversial host revealed “But the disappointing thing to me was the salad. It just didn’t work!”

While, Manu pointed out, “The eggplant was a little dry.” And recommended the boys serve the parmigiana in separate baking trays.

The boys copped the advice on the chin, but this comment had Olga – one half of the NSW duo – enraged. “We’re getting mixed messages Manu, on one handy ou say serve it as you serve it, on the other hand you say do it individually.”

I’m just giving a suggestion here!” Manu clapped back.

As those tensions simmered across the table, in the other room, Davide and Marco were dealing with a power outage which caused a bit of stress ahead of their main.

Speaking to WHO, Marco confessed: It has happened before and Davide is really handy with electrical stuff, so when he left to go, ‘Oh, I’ll fix it,’ I knew it was going to be a matter of seconds, and look, we had a gas oven there as well, so if we needed to go back to it, not that it was giving us the heat we wanted, but we could have worked around it.”

And his partner, Davide went on to admit: “It would have ruined our fish; if our fish had a drama, it would have been devastating to us on the night, but it all worked out. We probably had about 5 to 10 minutes to get the power back on in that situation, otherwise you would affect the quality of the fish cooking. All was well.”

Regardless, the judges gave the baked fish a 10.

Marco went on to tell us, “It did stress me out a bit and we were having timing issues for main, it started to feel like everything was going against us, so to get the good feedback after the main was eaten was great and to get a 10 was fantastic.”

“I was so excited. That was a bit of a variation of one of my grandma’s dishes, and I am a very big fisherman, and hunter and camper, so to have that dish be a 10 and be something that I worked on myself and modified a little bit, I was super stoked,” he said.
