If you’re not paying for the premium plan, which streams available titles in 4k as well as allowing up to four simultaneous streams, you won’t be affected, for the time being.

While existing premium subscribers will see the price increase come through on their bills in the coming weeks, the price hike will take effect on all new sign-ups from today.

But with everything that’s coming to Netflix in October, it’ll be worth it!

Netflix defended the price increase, saying it is investing in new binge-worthy content.

“We change our prices from time to time and continue to invest heavily to grow in the depth and breadth of our content such as new shows like The Politician, Unbelievable, well-loved series like Stranger Things, The Good Place and The Crown, as well as improvements to our product.

“Our basic and standard memberships will remain at the same price, ensuring as many people as possible can enjoy our content.”

This October, Netflix will bring a host of favourites to Australian audiences, including: Pitch Perfect 3, Raising Dion, Big Mouth: Season 3, and Peaky Blinders: Season 5
