As one of the most highly lauded creative events of the year, the 2023 Fall/Winter New York Fashion Week was one to remember! From February 10 to February 15, the city of New York was alight with arts and culture. Traversing to new creative heights, designers introduced us to the future of fashion, where futurism, sequins, and animalistic influences reign supreme.
With fashion on the centre stage, like most runway events, we were also heavily impressed by the beauty looks that emerged from the week. Ranging from avant-garde to everyday and wearable, much like the clothing on display, the beauty looks fell on all ends of the spectrum.

While we’ll reserve the gold-painted faces and bleached brows for a special occasion, here, we share with you the the top five (wearable) beauty trends to emerge from NYFW.
Tangerine Lips

Orange-toned reds made themselves known this NYFW. From the runway to the streets, a vast majority of makeup-wearers seemed to be rocking a bold tangerine lip. Whether it be a nod to the Autumnal season, or a return to makeup vivacity, we’re absolutely loving this reimagination of the classic red lip.

Glossy Skin

You’ve heard of ‘glass skin’, but have you heard of ‘glossy skin’? The glossy (almost wet) skin look is the editorial best friend of a highlighted face. Making a major appearance at the Sandy Liang and Bach Mai shows, the ethereal product application was paired with an almost bare face. Hitting the high points of the face (cheekbones, under the brow, nose bridge, cupids bow, temples), a shimmery (not sparkly) cream or gloss highlighter does most of the heavy lifting.

Neon Eyes

Championed by Anna Sui, a two-toned teal and fuchsia eye made a strong impact this Fashion Week. A true conversation starter, the neon eye can be adapted into a more wearable look (via a bold tightline) or amped up for stronger impression. Drawing attention to the ‘windows to the soul’, the bold colours are offset by a practically naked face.

Slicked back buns

They’re certainly not new to the beauty trend sphere but, if anything, New York Fashion Week proved that the slicked-back bun is here to stay. As seen in the Frederick Anderson and Michael Kors shows alongside celebs like Lea Michelle, the chic style can be worn in a myriad of ways.
