Australian Paralympic cycling has been rocked by the tragic death of Paige Greco, who has died at the age of 28, her family and AusCycling confirmed.
She passed away at her home in Adelaide on Sunday following what has been described as a “sudden medical episode.”
Paige was among Australia’s most celebrated para-athletes, and has been remembered for her courage, warmth and fierce determination.

Born with cerebral palsy, she first made her mark as a runner before shifting to cycling.
At the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics, set a new world record when she won the women’s C1-C3 3,000m individual pursuit and claimed gold for Australia.
She also took bronze in the road race and time trial at the same Games.
In a statement on behalf of the family, Paige’s mother Natalie expressed the depth of their grief. “Her kindness, her determination and her warmth touched our family every single day,” she said. “The pain of her passing is something we will carry forever.”
AusCycling and Paralympics Australia echoed that sentiment, mourning not only her athletic achievements but also her generous spirit and the positive way she inspired others.

Paralympics Australia chief executive Cameron Murray described her death as devastating, calling Paige “one of the brightest young stars of the Australian Paralympic Movement” whose strength on the bike was matched by generosity and composure off it.
As the sporting community grapples with her loss, her family has asked for privacy to grieve.
