Peter Helliar’s monologue at the Logies on Sunday went down like a lead balloon, with viewers branding the Australian comedian’s jokes as “sickeningly not funny.”
The Aussie star gave a five-minute speech, dressed as a life-size Gold Logie, in which he criticised the Gold Logie nominees, bar Amanda Keller, who was standing beside him looking uncomfortable.
‘Congratulations to all the Logie nominees tonight, you are all very deserving.
‘I thought I’d have some fun, dress up as a Gold Logie to show my appreciation to all the extremely worthy nominees tonight.
‘I mean Costa congratulations your [sic] a great bloke but I hope you do guttering because I’m gutted.’
‘Maybe you can clear the leaves of rejected from the gutter of my heart.’
However, viewers were less than impressed by Helliar’s comedic efforts.
‘Had to change channels – Peter Hellier was sickeningly not funny and to cringy/ creepy. Total embarrassment,’ wrote one Twitter user.
‘Peter Hellier has definitely changed his medication… usually funny,’ slammed another.
The comedian’s cringeworthy act comes just weeks after he was escorted off The Project set.
The 44-year-old’s joke about late socialite Gloria Vanderbilt was deemed too inappropriate and he was ushered off set by a security guard.
Luckily for Peter, the shock eviction turned out to be part of a prank planned by the Ten Network show.
