The award was set up in memory of the Princess of Wales to encourage young people to be more impactful by taking them on as mentees.

In his emotional speech at the Summit, the Duke of Sussex spoke about what it was like being a father to Archie, who he shares with American actress and Princess, Meghan Markle.

Prince Harry, 34 said that becoming a father for the first time has woken him up to the idea that another person was looking up to him.

“Perhaps it’s the newfound clarity I have as a father knowing that my son will always be watching what I do, mimicking my behavior, one day maybe even following in my footsteps,” the royal said of baby Archie.

“But it’s not just my role as a father that shows me that; it’s in the people I see every day that don’t realize how inspirational they are to those watching,” Prince Harry added.

Prince Harry also talked about how his late mother, the Princess of Wales was a role model.

“My mother, Princess Diana was a role model to so many without realizing the impact she would have on so many lives,” said the Duke of Sussex.

The 34-year-old father also emphasized how the people in the audience might be a role model to someone without realizing it.

“I’m struck by a few things today, most of which is the power of the invisible role model…The person who may be sitting here today that doesn’t realize that someone looks up to them, that – for that person – you inspire them to be kinder, better, greater, more successful, more impactful.”

The Diana Award presentation at the National Youth Mentoring Summit in the City of London placed an emphasis on how mentees can assist vulnerable young people towards a better future.

Emulating his late mother, (who regularly met with those who were impacted by her charity work) Prince Harry also met young people who shared their experiences of being mentored.

The royal also urged businesses and organizations to commit to mentoring, stating that:
