Riverdale’s musical episode ended with the return of the Black Hood and the shocking murder of Midge.
If you thought the Black Hood was gone for good when Archie unmasked the school’s janitor, you were wrong. He is back and out for blood.
“The Black Hood has killed people – Miss Grundy, the Sugar Man – he’s shot people, and unsuccessfully killed people, so we wanted to make it clear when the Black Hood came back, that the stakes were real and people were in danger,” Riverdale showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa told ET.
The musical episode (which airs tonight on Netflix) titled Chapter 31: A Night to Remember sees Midge play the leading role of Carrie in the musical of the same name, after Cheryl is denied the part by her mother.
When the curtains opened for Midge to make her on-stage debut, her murdered body was displayed alongside an announcement that the Black Hood has returned.
With four episodes left of the season, things are about to get a lot more intense.
“I think our characters are in mortal danger in a way they’ve never been before,” Aguirre-Sacasa said. “There are now four episodes left and I would say as intense as things have been in Riverdale, this amps up the danger and the drama to a level that even we haven’t done.”
