Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively are expecting baby number four, and despite wanting to keep the gender a surprise until their birth, the Deadpool star has shared his hopes for another girl.
The couple, who already share three daughters; James, seven, Inez, six, and Betty, three, announced their pregnancy in September.
During a recent interview on the Today show, he revealed that he was more than happy to welcome another girl into the family.
“I know girls” he explained, “so I’m kind of hoping for that.”
The actor revealed that he himself was the youngest of four boys, and knows the chaos boys can bring into the family.
“I come from all brothers, which is why I speak from experience,” Ryan said. “I love my well-being and I love my home. I was the youngest of four and we were just arsonists and firemen.”
However, he also revealed that he and Blake will be “ready for whatever happens” when the new baby comes along.
Blake, who announced her pregnancy at the 10th Annual Forbes Power Women’s Summit, joked of her surprise, explaining. “I just like to create. Whether that’s baking or storytelling or businesses or humans, I just really like creating.”
Ryan didn’t accompany Blake as she revealed the news and was likely at home with their children, as he recently took a break from acting to spend more time with their young family.
“The biggest thing for me, and I know you have kids as well, is that I don’t want to miss this time with my kids,” he told LinkedIn News Senior Editor at Large Jessi Hempel last year.
“For many years when my wife Blake would shoot a film, I would not shoot a film and I would be with the kids and vice versa. So we would sort of trade-off. We never really worked at the same time. But always we were away.”
As for what Blake and Ryan may choose to name their next addition, fans already have something of a conspiracy theory going.
Many have speculated that the couple’s close friend Taylor Swift will be the one to reveal what name Blake and Ryan have planned for their next bub.
The songstress included all three of their children’s names on her 2020 album Folklore in the song Betty.
