Pippa Middleton’s brother-in-law Spencer Matthews endured a terrifying ordeal earlier this week when he was caught up in an armed robbery at a London jeweller.
The Made in Chelsea star and two friends were visiting The Hour House, a luxury watch shop when moped-ridding robbers ambushed the shop, forcing Spencer to hide in a vault.
The 30-year-old took to Instagram to recount the ordeal, stating he had gone to buy a vintage watch when suddenly the shop “got smashed to pieces” by “robbers with huge jack hammers”.
“I was there picking up this vintage piece and these guys drive a scooter through the glass and start battering the shop with big huge hammers, wearing helmets,” said Spencer, who is the younger brother of Pippa’s husband, James..
“We’re at the back of the shop looking at them, sprint downstairs, hide in vault until the noise passes, come upstairs and the place is just battered. Like I mean Gonzo. All the watches gone, everything.”
Amazingly, Spencer – who welcomed a son with his model wife, Vogue Williams in October – discovered that the robbers had left one watch behind – the one he had been planning to buy!
“We were looking around and I’m just thinking f**king hell the thing that I’ve been waiting for has obviously just been nicked so I’m going to have to go and get another one,” he continued.
“Lo and behold we look around and on the floor amongst all the rubble and the glass and stuff there’s one watch in the entire shop and it’s mine.
“Now if that’s not luck I don’t know what is.”
