Debi and the killer koala have made our day.
MUST WATCH: UK REPORTER PRANKED INTO THINKING KOALA’S ARE ‘DEADLY PREDATORS’
At a time when Aussies are fearful for our fire-ravaged native animals, a cheeky koala and her carers have given us a good LOL.
ITV News Asia correspondent, Debi Edward was pranked spectacularly this week while reporting from the bushfires.
The Scottish journo was tricked by locals into thinking she was suiting up in hilarious protective gear to handle the deadly ‘drop bear.’
‘I’m a bit worried about why I need this level of protection,’ Debi tells locals, who explain that a ‘drop bear’ is a sub species of the koala.
‘They’re bigger. They’ve got longer claws. They’ve actually got small fangs, and the really interesting thing about the fangs is they omit a mild venom,’ Debi’s told.
‘The third most common injury we see in tourists visiting Australia is actually from drop bear attacks.’
Debi then turns to the camera herself, telling viewers, ‘It’s called a drop bear because they drop out of the trees to attack people.”
‘I’m trying not to be worried because I’ve been told that he can sense if I’m worried,’ she continued.
After holding the mythical animal, Debi became terrified. The carers came to her rescue and she soon realised she’d been properly pranked.
‘F–king Aussies.’
