On Wednesday night’s episode of The Bachelor, three Bachelorettes formed a pact to only approach Locky as a threesome. What could possibly go wrong?
Despite the “three musketeers” Juliette, Kristina and Areeba agreeing to only approach the Bachelor Locky Gilbert together, it didn’t take long before one of the girls – Juliette – went rogue by handing Locky a handwritten note.
That action resulted in her scoring one of Locky’s prized roses.
Here the three ladies reveal to WHO why they agreed to form the threesome, why it went so wrong and if they think Juliette broke the girl code.

WHO: Why did you agree to join the threesome to approach Locky together? What were the benefits?
JULIETTE: We heard that this cocktail party would be fiercely competitive and that nobody was going to hold back when securing their chat with Locky. We knew it would be impossible to get time with Locky so we thought let’s band together.
We wanted Locky to see our real sides and share our fun, happy, real, cheeky, playful energy. We thought lets shift the paradigm from intense one on one time and create our own happy group date.
When and why did you decide to break away and approach him separately? How did you feel when you did that?
JULIETTE: The mood of the mansion was really intense in the lead up to the cocktail party and Kristina and Areeba were acting very distant. I mistakenly assumed their distance signalled the end of a group date plan. I wasn’t going to interrupt anyone’s chat that night or take up space so I thought if I bump into Locky I could give him a letter.
I was given the last rose at the first rose ceremony which really shook me. So when every girl is emphasising how special their connection with Locky was, I started to question my connection with him. So I impulsively needed to give him the letter.
Did you expect Areeba and Kristina to react as they did?
JULIETTE: I had the best time chatting and laughing with Locky and the queens! It felt so real, relaxed and playful. But I also felt like I still didn’t get to tell him who I am.
The girls seemed so confident in their connection with Locky that I thought “I got the last rose. I’m the least liked. I have nothing to lose if this is my last night here. I can’t leave without telling him how there are several contrasting layers within me, I am not a conventional person.”
I honestly was so captivated with Locky that I didn’t think that they would mind if I slipped him a letter especially as I was given the last rose and it shook me.
They might argue that you broke the girl code. What would you say to that?
JULIETTE: We never spoke about girl code. We have always been real with one another. And I impulsively, instinctively took the letter and gave it to him without even thinking.
Maybe I was selfish or didn’t want to risk not telling him what I needed to before possibly leaving. I didn’t know what the outcome would be, it was risky. The letter could have either turned him away or maybe he wouldn’t even read it.
Is Locky the sort of guy you’d normally go for? What did you find most attractive about him?
JULIETTE: No I usually date creative artists and actors… never a wild adventure man! I really get lost in his eyes and his kind happy presence.

Why did you decide to write him a letter, rather than pull him aside and tell him about the contents of the note to his face?
JULIETTE: I am a writer. And sometimes it’s easier to express complex feelings in a letter than getting lost with the crazy energy and pressure of having to say as much as possible to him in a moment that could be cut short.
At a cocktail party it’s unlikely for me to have deep conversations with someone because I want to have fun and laugh and joke and tease. So I wanted him to know that there was a deeper intellectual side, that I have travelled, experienced huge losses in my life, I never want to be a victim but to be happy in life, that sometimes i want to laugh and not be serious because life can be taken away from you so quickly.
I wanted him to know that I was extremely sensitive, but straightforward, happy and energetic but also chilled. Glam girl and sporty. That I don’t need a partner to be my saviour healer as I feel happy inside and complete. I just want to enjoy life with someone.
How did you feel when he presented you with the rose?
JULIETTE: When he called my name I turned my head around to see if he wanted to speak to another Juliette! Some girls in the mansion had made me feel like my connection with Locky was nothing, so I couldn’t even believe he was giving me a rose. I couldn’t believe he even read the letter! Especially as I had the last rose last week.
How did the other girls in the mansion react towards you afterwards?
JULIETTE: Only Areeba and Kristina came up to me. Maybe I was a threat?
When this happened, did you think you’d be able to make things up with Areeba and Kristina?
JULIETTE: I felt terrible that I misunderstood their standoffish behaviour as not wanting to be my friend anymore. Obviously seeing Kristina and Areeba hurt by my actions really upset me. I was angry at myself for not telling them about a letter which I honestly didn’t think was a big deal. But maybe because I got the rose it was a bigger deal.
It’s such an electrifying charged night, sometimes you impulsively do things and giving him the letter was impulsive. I didn’t think fast enough to tell them. I didn’t even know I was actually going to have the balls to hand him a vulnerable letter. I kept trying to talk to them but they weren’t ready. Knowing that I hurt my sisters was painful.

AREEBA
WHO: Did you think Juliette broke the girl code when she approached Locky on her own?
AREEBA: I don’t think we had a girl code but we had an agreement to approach Locky as a group and she definitely broke that.
Why did you agree to only approach him as a threesome?
AREEBA: Us three together have a good banter, so we wanted Locky to have fun and not be too “formal” with the whole one on one chat, we wanted him to see how fun we can be together and how good we have built our friendship and also we wanted everyone to get the chance to speak to Locky so we thought being in a threesome might save some time.
Were you upset that Juliette approached him on her own, because she got in before you? Would you have done the same thing?
AREEBA: I was hurt that she didn’t check in with me. In all honesty if she told me she was going to give him a letter, I would’ve been happy for her.
How did you feel when Locky gave Juliette the rose?
AREEBA: I was happy for her, but confused we didn’t get the rose.

KRISTINA
What was the advantage for you in agreeing to only approach Locky with Juliette and Areeba?
KRISTINA: I realised how competitive it became to get time with Locky and decided instead of competing with my friends, we decided to unite and approach him together so that we would have a greater chance of being able to speak with him. We also didn’t want to have an intense one and one chat and be in a nice fun casual conversation as a group.
Would you have gone rogue and approached him on your own?
KRISTINA: I’ve never approached a man first in my whole life, so no.
Do you consider what Juliette did as ‘breaking the girl code’?
KRISTINA: There can’t really be girl code when you’re all competing for the same man. But the 3 of us agreed that we would have a casual conversation, not outshine each other, as it was equal contribution.
How did you feel when Juliette came away with Locky’s rose?
KRISTINA: Where the f*** is my rose?
How did the other girls in the mansion react? Did they applaud her or freeze her out?
KRISTINA: They were very angry about her getting the rose and very encouraging of us to cut her off.
The Bachelor continues on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 7.30pm on Ten.
