Tracey Jewel Exclusive: ‘The truth about my overdose’

The 'Married At First Sight' star reveals what really went wrong.

Following a public breakup with Patrick Kedemos, Married At First Sight alum Tracey Jewel shared a cryptic post about trolls ‘ruining’ her life. Just days later, the former reality star reveals to WHO that she “went into a head spin and overdosed”.

That situation was, as Jewel tells it, being left “stranded and alone” by Kedemos in Berlin, which came about after she had “been bullied and cyber-trolled relentlessly, pretty much all year” following her stint on the controversial dating show, so he invited her on the holiday to get away from it all.

“Even though I couldn’t afford it, he said, ‘Don’t worry about it, you’re my partner [and] I’ll look after you,’ ” Jewel tells WHO. “I had ways to earn money once I got back from the holiday set up ready to go.”

During their five-week getaway, the pair began having issues. “I’ve been very emotionally withdrawn because of the stress from the trolls and the bullying, and he thought that would magically disappear,” Jewel says. “I haven’t been my normal happy self and I thought he understood that and would be patient with me and supportive. He got very angry at me and upset at me.”

Jewel claims that because she didn’t go back to her “normal bubbly self ” straight away, Kedemos became volatile. “He told me he had made a massive mistake restarting a relationship with me [and that] he wished he’d never brought me on the trip,” the author says. “Because of that, I just asked to go home.”

But the reality star couldn’t afford to pay for the return trip. “It got so bad that I demanded him to change my flight because I’d had enough and couldn’t take his yelling,” she says. “Patrick then made it very clear that he was cancelling my flight, not changing it and that I had to find my own way home.”

It was then that the mum-of-one took drastic measures before a doctor was called. Eventually, Kedemos, who has refuted Jewel’s account, agreed to pay for Jewel’s flight home. But Jewel claims that when word got out about their break-up, all her employment deals were terminated. “Everyone’s cancelled their contracts with me,” she tells WHO. “Any way I had of earning an income has disappeared.”

Since being back in Australia, Jewel has spoken with doctors about the incident overseas. “I’m not someone who has a history of depression—but I started getting help in April because the psychologist said I might have post-traumatic stress disorder because of everything I’d been through.”

During her struggle, jewel says she contacted a TV production company, to whom she is still under contract. “I’ve told them of my situation and they just replied back saying, ‘We recommend you get some professional help,’ ” she reveals. “I feel like I’m on my own.”

Another TV source claims Jewel was offered assistance, which she declined.

Now, the reality star is focused on looking after herself. “I just need to get my mental state better but I definitely will be taking at least a month minimum off social media,” she says. “I’m just taking it one day at a time.”
