The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have revealed that they’re “absolutely thrilled” at the arrival of Baby Sussex.
Prince William and Kate Middleton gushed about their new nephew, born May 6, during an appearance in Greenwich in southeast London to launch the King’s Cup Regatta charity competition they will host in August.
Despite rumours of a feud between the royal couples, Wills and Kate seemed genuinely delighted by the baby’s arrival.
Will told a royal correspondent they were “obviously thrilled” and that he has “plenty of advice” for his brother.
“Looking forward to seeing them in the next few days when things have quietened down,” he said. “I’m very pleased and glad to welcome my own brother into the sleep deprivation society that is parenting.”
Kate also noted the closeness between several of the royal children’s birthdays – Princess Charlotte on May 2, Prince Louis on April 23.
“It’s such a great time of the year to have a baby. And yes, spring’s in the air and everything so it’s pretty great,” she said. “As William said, I look forward to meeting him (the baby) and finding out what his name is going to be.
“So it’s really exciting for both of them. And I’m wishing them the best in these next few weeks. It’s always a bit daunting the first time around.”
Will, 36, and Kate, 37, were dressed casually for their engagement, with Kate in a suitably nautical-themed outfit for the occasion: The stylish royal wore cropped sailor pants by L.K. Bennett, a striped Breton top and suede, square-heeled pumps.
Kate and Wills’ reactions come one day after Prince Harry gave an interview following the news that Baby Sussex had been born.
Speaking to the media, the proud new dad said both Meghan and the baby are doing “incredibly well” and he is “very proud” of his wife.
He also revealed that the couple are yet to decide on a name for their newborn, who weighed in at 3.2kgs.
“It’s been the most amazing experience I could ever have possibly imagined.”
