Does Paul Mescal have a girlfriend?
While the actor has not officially confirmed his relationship status, celebrity gossip page DeuxMoi has recently reported that Paul has been spotted with Irish influencer Keelin Moncrieffe.
An insider speaking to the page shared that they had spotted the potential new couple "looking cozy in Lucky's Meath Street" in Dublin after Moncrieffe unfollowed her boyfriend on Instagram.
Mescal has also recently been linked to his Normal People co-star, Daisy Edgar-Jones.
Who has Paul Mescal dated?
Phoebe Bridgers
In a true 21st-century love story, Paul and Phoebe Bridgers' romance began to blossom over Twitter.
In December 2019, Paul posted a snap of his Spotify wrapped to Twitter, which revealed Phoebe Bridgers as his top artist for the year. While Phoebe did not respond to her title of Mescal's #1 artist, the singer did give the Normal People star some love for his performance on the show.
"Finished normal people and now I'm sad and horny oh wait," Phoebe tweeted, with Paul replying, "I'm officially dead." Fortunately, Phoebe spotted Paul's reply, writing back "nooo don't die you['re] so talented aha."
The duo officially met face-to-face for the first time on an Instagram livestream project for Wonderland Magazine, with the stars sharing some awkwardly flirtatious banter throughout their first meeting.
While fans began to speculate about the couple's relationship, Phoebe and Paul kept their romance out of the public eye for almost a year.
Rumours surrounding their romance began to heighten in late October 2021 after the couple were spotted together dressed as Machine Gun Kelly and Megan Fox at a Halloween party.
Fortunately for fans, the pair put an end to speculation just over one week later, with Phoebe and Paul making their highly-anticipated red-carpet debut as a couple at the 2021 LACMA Art + Film Gala in November 2021.
Following their first public appearance together, Phoebe and Paul kept their relationship largely out of the public eye, with the couple only posting a handful of snaps together on social media throughout their relationship.
The couple delighted fans when they made their second red carpet appearance together at the 2022 MET Gala alongside Paul's Normal People co-star Daisy Edgar Jones.
In November 2022, a profile piece on Mescal in The Guardian reported that the couple were engaged. Fans were overjoyed with the news, with many taking to social media to express their excitement.
"No because Phoebe Bridgers watched Normal People, publicly thirsted over Paul Mescal and is now engaged to him and for that, she's my hero," tweeted one fan.
Sadly for fans, the exciting news was short-lived as reports began to surface that the power couple had split. While Paul declined to comment on the split in multiple interviews, the actor told Esquire, "The only thing you're left with after love is grief, which is, like, a bleak thing, but I think it's just a fact."
Daisy Edgar-Jones
Since starring together as the beloved Connell and Marianne in Normal People, Paul and Daisy Edgar-Jones' relationship has been the subject of continuous speculation amongst fans.
While their on-screen romance captivated viewers with its undeniable chemistry, Paul and Daisy have maintained that their relationship is strictly platonic.
"It's odd seeing people talk about Paul and I... You're being talked about, but you're like, 'I'm reading this. I can see what you're saying.' Stuff like that is a bit odd," Daisy told Vulture in 2020.
Following the conclusion of Normal People, Daisy and Paul have maintained their famous friendship, with the duo frequently referring to one another as each other's 'best mate' on social media.
Despite their strong stance on the nature of their relationship, fans continued to speculate about a low-key romance between the co-stars. The rumour mill was sent into overdrive following the 2022 MET Gala when Daisy attended alongside Paul and Phoebe Bridgers.
Speculation continued to heighten in the leadup to Paul and Phoebe's split, with Daisy and Paul snapped wearing a coordinated Fleabag-themed Halloween costume.
Although the co-stars have kept their relationship relatively low-key, in early September 2023, fans were sent into a frenzy when Daisy posted a video of herself dancing to Instagram alongside Paul and fellow Normal People co-star India Mullen.
Daisy later posted a reel to Instagram that appeared to reveal a sneak peek of Paul kissing an unnamed woman, with many fans believing that the mystery woman was actually Daisy herself. Given the video was relatively low-quality, it is difficult to work out whether the nonchalant smooch was in fact between Daisy and Paul.
While fans of Normal People may have been eagerly awaiting confirmation of their favourite on-screen couple's real-life romance, Daisy stepped out with her rumoured new boyfriend, photographer Ben Seed, in September 2023 at Milan Fashion Week.
