Who Is She?
The Home And Away star was born on February 23, 1992, in Adelaide. A jet-setter at a very young age, Samara Weaving spent her formative years moving between a ton of different countries including Australia, Singapore, Fiji, and Indonesia. But at the age of 13, she settled down in Canberra, where she attended Canberra Girl's Grammar school. It was here where she discovered her love for acting; she was very active in her school's theatre production and even became the campus' drama captain.
She is best known in Australia as Indigo Walker – the character she played in the drama-series Home And Away. However, most non-Australians would probably recognise her as Bee from The Babysitter.
Samara Weaving is a very versatile and talented actress. She is also a model, most known for being an ambassador of the underwear brand, Bonds.
It looks like the creative genes run strong in Sam's family: her father, Simon Weaving is a writer and director, and her sister Morgan Weaving is also an actor.
How Is She Related To Hugo Weaving?
You might have thought the last name sounded familiar! Hugo Weaving (who plays the bad guy in The Matrix) is Samara’s uncle. She was actually able to act alongside him in the Australian crime series Mystery Road. Talk about a star-studded family!
Her first acting gig in 2008, Out Of The Blue, never made it to the second season. But, a year later, she landed the role of Indi Walker on Home And Away, a role that would make her a household name in Australia. Indi was originally just a recurring character, but because of the her popularity, the crew decided to promote her to the main cast.
Weaving was nominated for the Audience Choice Award for Best Female Performance in a Television Drama at the inaugural AACTA Awards in 2012. This was her gateway into true Hollywood success.
The Birth Of A Hollywood Star
Samara left her Home And Away life for the greener pastures of film acting; but it wasn't all sunshine and rainbows. At first, she was only able to land minor roles in local films like Mystery Road and Bad Girl. Her true breakout role was Heather in Ash Vs Evil Dead; the comedy-horror TV series had a solid fanbase and provided the springboard Samara to launch into stardom.
In 2017 she was cast for another TV series SMILF, and landed a role in the near-universally praised, critically acclaimed film Three Billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri.
Unfortunately, the rise of Samara Weaving's popularity was accompanied by controversy. In 2016, she was caught in the middle of a fake news scandal. Photos of an injured-looking Samara circulated the web with claims that she was beaten up by liberals for being a Trump Supporter. The photo turned out to be from Weaving's makeup test during her gig on Ash Vs. Evil Dead.
Samara also fell victim of a supposed naked photo leak. Last year, Celeb Jihad published leaked nudes of her, although she maintains that the photos are actually faked.
Who Is She Dating?
The Australian star has led a very colourful dating life both on and off-screen. During her stint on Home And Away, Samara dated her on-screen love interest Axle Whitehead, but they broke it off in 2013.
During the filming of The Babysitter in 2016, Samara met and fell in love with co-actor Jimmy Warden. The two got together and have been joint-at-the-hip ever since! In fact, the couple just announced their wedding engagement on Instagram a few months ago!
The future is looking bright for this Australian actress. Samara Weaving is such a delight to see on the big screen, and we can't wait to see all of her future projects.
