This year, the cast will be made up of former athletes like Barry Hall, Darius Boyd and Ebanie Bridges, actors Pauly Fenech and Orpheus Pledger, and former reality stars Locky Gilbert and Anna Heinrich, to name a few.
Insights into the show have shown us the dedication of Anna, who trained hard for the series with the help of her husband, Tim Robards, whom she met on the first season of The Bachelor.
Other teasers have set up a conflict between Housos and Fat Pizza creator, Pauly Fenech, and Locky Gilbert, who was the 2020 Bachelor, and has played Australian Survivor twice.
“He’s a reality guy, all the girls fawn over him,” Pauly is seen saying in a trailer.
It also appears he’s been nicknamed ‘Cocky Locky’ by the overseeing SAS staff.
In previous years, physical strength has not been what determined a ‘good recruit’, with a range of people passing selection, which is considered as ‘winning’ the show.
In the show’s first series former rugby player and Bachelor star, Nick Cummins, AFLW player Sabrina Frederik, and comedian and radio host, Merrick Watts, all passed selection.
Last year, former NRL player Sam Burgess was the only recruit to pass the course.
However, Olympic runner John Steffensen, former tennis star Mark Philippoussis both finished the course, with the final comments being that they wouldn’t have the mental fortitude to work within the SAS.
Recruits perform under the watchful eye of Ant Middleton, the lead ‘staff’ on the show, who forces the recruits through their paces over the two-week course.
As we anxiously await the arrival of the new series – you can check out the new 2022 recruits here.
Bring it on!
