Will the original cast return for the Twilight TV Show?
The five-film Twilight franchise was a major commercial success. Grossing over $3.4 billion worldwide, quirks and all, the series is still beloved almost 15 years after it was first released.
Catapulting Kristen Stewart (Bella Swan), Robert Pattinson (Edward Cullen), and Taylor Lautner (Jacob Black) to immediate fame, the pop-culture phenomenon amassed a devoted fandom. As early stepping stones for their careers in Hollywood, it's likely that the original actors won't reprise their roles.
Peter Facinelli has indicated some interest in returning to the project in some capacity, telling The Messenger: "I'm hoping I can do a cameo in Twilight. ... Carlisle is, like, 300 years old, [but] I don't look over 250, right?"
Although the original cast may not be joining the show, Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke recently revealed her dream casting for the spin-off and we can definitely see her vision.
On an episode of the Watchalong podcast, she revealed Jacob Elordi and Jenna Ortega "would be perfect."
“He’s amazing. He probably would be Edward today,” she said of the Aussie actor.
“I do think there’s a lot of really cool young actors,” she added when musing over what actress could step in. “You just mentioned Jenna Ortega," she continued. "She’s amazing.”
What will the Twilight TV Show be about?
At this stage, we don't know if the new project will be a full "reboot" of the original movies, following the same plot but with different actors, or if it will be an offshoot, delving into new storylines and characters of Forks, Washingtin.
When first announcing the news in early 2023, The Hollywood Reporter suggested writer Sinead Daly was in discussions with the studio about the format and whether it would be a direct adaption of the books or a new concept all together.
