Where to watch Conversations With Friends in Australia

Inside the latest adaptation from author Sally Rooney. - by Tina Burke
  • 16 May 2022

Ever since Sally Rooney's Normal People was adapted for TV - and broke us mind, body, and spirit - we've been hanging out for a new series with the same vibe. What can we say? We love making ourselves sad, apparently.

Thankfully, one of Rooney's other novels has been adapted for television and is now available to stream on Amazon Prime. Here's everything you need to know about Conversations With Friends.

What is Conversations With Friends about?

Much like Normal People, Conversations With Friends is set in Ireland and follows the lives of complex - and often very irritating but lovable - young 20-something women.

The novel and the series follows Frances (Alison Oliver), a 21-year-old college student and her former girlfriend and current best friend, Bobbi (Sasha Lane). Despite breaking up years prior, the two are basically inseparable and perform spoken word poetry together in Dublin.

At one of their shows they meet Melissa (Jemima Kirke), an older writer who is fascinated by the pair. Bobbi and Frances start to spend time with Melissa and her husband, Nick (Joe Alwyn), a handsome but reserved actor.

As you can imagine, much like any other Sally Rooney moment, the characters all make constant mistakes and have miscommunications that make us want to cringe. But we can't help but love keeping up with them, like Connell and Marianne in Normal People.

When does Conversations With Friends premiere?

Conversations With Friends has dropped all of its episodes as of May 16, 2022. Dropping it all on a Monday probably wasn't our favourite decision in hindsight, but the episodes are only about 30 minutes, so we're certain you'll have it binged ASAP.

Where can you watch Conversations With Friends in Australia?

A BBC Three and Hulu Original series, Conversations With Friends was picked up by a local provider in Australia, Amazon Prime Video.

If you're not already signed up, you're going to want to click here for a 30-day free trial.
