Only one Love Island Australia couple is still together

And one we thought would last didn't go the distance. - by Alex Lilly

As season three of Love Island Australia takes off, we're beginning to wonder if any of these fledgling couples will go the distance, because let's face it - the odds aren't great.

Season one's Josh Moss and Amelia Marni's is the last standing relationship born from the show's first two seasons.

The first season may have been won by Tayla Damir and Grant Crapp, but after Grant's secret girlfriend was exposed they proved that "love" doesn't always conquer all.

Instead, viewers swooned for Josh Moss and Amelia Marni who eventually came in third place but found a connection almost as soon as Amelia entered the villa as an intruder.

Josh and Amelia

Despite coming in third, Josh and Amelia were the strongest couple of Love Island season one.

Josh and Amelia are still going strong, recently celebrating three years together.

Amelia shared a sweet video of their time together, writing "3 years later ✨ Happy anni my little sh** @joshmoss i luv u sm 🤍."

The couple have also moved in together in Sydney, and often share loved up images in celebration of their relationship.

"Best thing that ever happened to me 😌," Josh captioned a recent snap of the pair on Instagram.

When it came to season two, Josh Packham and Anna McEvoy were the quiet achievers, and we thought they would be the second success story of the franchise.

Whilst much of the attention during the show was focused on unlikely pairing Adam and Cartier, Josh and Anna went from strength to strength before finally winning the competition.

"Obviously, Josh and I really didn't think we had any chance of winning because we weren't in the original cast and normally the winners are an original cast member. So when our names were called out we were like 'Oh my god! What's happened?'" Anna explained after their win.

Anna and Josh

Season two's winners Anna and Josh have already lasted longer than season one's Tayla and Grant.

The couple later announced that they'd moved in together in Melbourne, Anna's hometown, whilst coronavirus restrictions were still in place. But a few months later in October, the couple announced they'd ended things.

“It is with great sadness that Josh and I are going our separate ways,” Anna posted on Instagram.

“I know that so many of you are invested in our relationship but please know we did everything we could to make it work.

“It’s extremely difficult to break up with someone who you still love but it is the right thing to do.”

Josh shared his own Instagram Story about the break up, writing: “We have had an amazing journey but unfortunately sometimes relationships don’t work out and two people simply grow apart.”

“I am incredibly grateful for the time we have shared.”

Anna is now dating new boyfriend Michael Staples, and announced the news on both Instagram and the podcast she shares with fellow Love Island alum, Matt Zukowski.

“I was like, the happiest person alive, I still am, I feel like I’m beaming,” she said.

Meanwhile, Josh is currently starring on this season of The Block with his twin brother Luke, who also appeared on season two of Love Island.

Here's hoping at least one season three couples might go the distance!
