Melbourne has gone into lockdown for a second time due to the rising number of COVID-19 cases, but one of the city’s residents, Bec Judd, has spoken out about who exactly is to blame.
Taking to her Instagram Stories, Bec shared a meme of a map of Australia divided into the states with the words “Thank you for doing the right thing” on each state.
However, over the state of Victoria, it read: “Not you.”
“This gave me the laugh I needed tonight but seriously, thinking of all Melburnians, especially the millions of us who have been doing the right thing since March,” Bec captioned the meme.
“It’s so disappointing we find ourselves in this position because of a very small minority. Melbourne is still the best city in the world, just not for the next six weeks! Look after each other,” she added.
This isn’t the first time the AFL WAG has commented on the way Victoria is handling the coronavirus pandemic.
Last week, Bec shared a screenshot from The Australian and backed Health Minister Brad Hazzard’s call for certain hotspots in the state’s capital to go into lockdown.
“As a Victorian, I would like to see Melbourne hotspot suburbs put into lockdown as well,” she wrote on Instagram.
“Not sure what @danielandrewsmp is waiting for? Hundreds more cases? The whole of Victoria to become reinfected? Short term pain, long term gain.”
Back in May, Bec also slammed anti-lockdown protesters on her KIIS FM radio show The 3PM Pick-Up.
“This is such a shame! We did the right thing and didn’t visit our mums yesterday [for Mother’s Day] and we’ve been social distancing and then they just go and do that,” the fashion influencer said of the rallies.
“Seeing the images on the news of police trying to keep everyone safe, trying to do their job and the aggression they faced – it was so unnecessary and really disappointing. Follow the rules like everybody else!”
Bec and her husband Chris have been isolating at their home in Melbourne with their four children – eight-year-old son Oscar, five-year-old daughter Billie, and four-year-old twin boys Tom and Darcy.
In June, she revealed that her eldest was heading back to school and shared the news on social media writing: “Our last iso-lunch together before school returns for year three [students] next week in Victoria.”
“I’m going to miss the sounds of you, your classmates and your amazing teacher from distant Zoom lessons, and your cricket bat hitting balls into my walls every day, Oscar. Really, I will. The house will be so quiet.”
