Jared Leto has “expressly denied” recent allegations from multiple women accusing the star of sexually inappropriate behaviour. In a new report that was published by Air Mail on June 7, 2025, nine women came forward about their experiences with Leto – with some alleging they were just teenagers at the time of their encounters, and another claiming the actions of the actor/musician have been “an open secret for a long time”.
“He asked how old I was. I said, ‘I’m 16. How old are you?’” Laura La Rue, now 32, said, recounting her first time meeting the celebrity at an event in 2008.
The model further claimed she and Leto, who was 36 when they met, struck up an email friendship afterwards, which led to her visiting him at his Los Angeles residence in April 2009.
“I remember him teasing me the whole time I was there. He was flirting with me. He’d lean in close, then pull away, like it was a game.”

La Rue’s visits to Leto continued, with things escalating on one memorable occasion. “He just walked out, d–k out, like it was normal … I thought maybe this was just what adult men do,” she recalled.
Leto, 53, has strongly denied all of the allegations made in the Air Mail article.
“Their communications contain nothing sexual or inappropriate, and Ms La Rue later applied to work as Mr Leto’s personal assistant, further underscoring the absence of anything inappropriate in any of their interactions,” said
a statement from Leto’s team included in Air Mail’s story. La Rue denies applying for the job.
The feature also included allegations that Los Angeles-based DJ and music producer Allie Teilz, 31, shared on social media, including this post she made in May 2025 on her Instagram stories:

“I was assaulted and traumatised by this creep when I was 17. He knew my age and didn’t care. What he did was predatory, terrifying and unacceptable.”
Leto is a 30-year veteran in Hollywood whose method acting style won him an Oscar in 2014 for Best Supporting Actor for his portrayal of a trans woman with AIDS in The Dallas Buyers Club. He is also the frontman and lead songwriter for rock band Thirty Seconds to Mars, which regularly plays sell-out shows. Not to mention Leto has walked down the red carpet at the annual Met Gala fundraiser on five occasions.
Despite his serious A-lister status, this is not the first time accusations of wrongdoing have been made against him. In 2005, the New York Post published an article which opened with the line: “Jared Leto likes ‘em young.”

It went on to accuse him of “aggressively pursuing” teenage models, and reported that he was “calling and texting” his “underage objects of desire several times a day”. Leto didn’t publicly acknowledge
the accusations at the time.
In May 2018, actor Dylan Sprouse shared a tweet that took aim at the star. “Yo @JaredLeto now that you’ve slid into the DMs of every female model aged 18-25, what would you say your success rate is?” Sprouse wrote. “He starts at 18 on the internet?” replied James Gunn, who directed 2021’s The Suicide Squad, which did not see Leto reprise his role as the Joker from 2016’s Suicide Squad.
And while Thirty Seconds to Mars may have a cult following, it has been suggested Leto could actually be running a bona fide cult after a bizarre weekend in 2019 when fans – who call themselves the Echelon – joined the band for a three-day retreat in Croatia, where Leto, dressed in white robes, hosted a music festival with yoga classes and movie screenings.
“Yes, this is a cult #MarsIsland,” he captioned pictures from the event online.
