Some were amicable, others acrimonious, but these celebrity break ups rocked 2025.
Keep scrolling to see the stars who called it quits this year.
Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman
It was the end that no-one saw coming. On September 29, the world woke to reports Aussie superstars Kidman and Urban, both 58, had separated after 19 years of marriage.
Within 24 hours, the Oscar winner had filed for divorce, requesting to be the primary residential parent to their daughters, Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 15.

Cash Warren and Jessica Alba
Three weeks after announcing their separation, actress Alba, 44, filed for divorce from film producer Warren, 46, on February 7 after 16 years of marriage. The star, who shares three children with her ex, cited irreconcilable differences and listed their date of separation as December 27, 2024. She requested joint custody and for her legal name to be restored to Jessica Marie Alba.
In an Instagram post shared on January 16, she reflected on the “journey of self realisation and transformation” she’d been on over the years, both individually and with her husband. “I’m proud of how we’ve grown as a couple and in our marriage over the last 20 years and it’s now time for us to embark on a new chapter of growth and evolution as individuals,” she wrote.
“We are moving forward with love and kindness and respect for each other and will forever be family. Our children remain our highest priority.”

Holly Valance and Nick Candy
In June, it was reported that billionaire Reform UK treasurer Candy, 52, and his Aussie wife, Valance, 42, had ended their 13-year union.
Soon after, a source told The Sun the mum-of-two planned to take him “for every penny” as she was “the injured party”.

Eric Johnson and Jessica Simpson
Parents-of-three Simpson, 45, and Johnson, 46, kicked off 2025 with the singer telling People: “Eric and I have been living separately navigating a painful situation in our marriage.”
Split rumours surfaced in November 2024, with Johnson seen minus his ring, then Simpson teased in a new song, “It’s an apology to myself for putting up with everything I did not deserve.”

Katy Perry & Orlando Bloom
Overcoming earlier issues, Bloom, 48, and Perry, 41, were headed for happily ever after when the actor proposed on Valentine’s Day 2019, before welcoming daughter Daisy on August 26, 2020.
However, amid growing split rumours, their reps confirmed on July 3 they’d been “shifting their relationship over the past many months to focus on co-parenting”.

Shaun White & Nina Dobrev
Just shy of a year after Olympic snowboarder White, 39, proposed to actress Dobrev, 36, following five years together, the world was shocked when a source close to the couple confirmed to People on September 11 that they’d ended their engagement.
While they claimed the split was mutual and “made with love and a deep respect”, fans weren’t convinced after Dobrev dropped a shady TikTok on “other women trying to fix your man”.

Lori Loughlin & Mossimo Giannulli
They survived the 2019 college admissions bribery scandal and their subsequent prison stints, but on October 3, actress Loughlin, 61, and designer Giannulli, 62, revealed they had separated after 28 years of marriage.
“They are living apart and taking a break from their marriage,” Loughlin’s rep Elizabeth Much told People. “There are no legal proceedings at this time.”

Aaron Phypers and Denise Richards
Things have got incredibly contentious since Phypers, 53, who works in alternative medicine, filed for divorce from his wife of six years, actress Richards, 54, citing irreconcilable differences on July 7.
Amid claims of physical abuse throughout their relationship, which Phypers staunchly denies, the mum-of-three was granted a restraining order on November 7.

Georgia Love and Lee Elliott
Following months of speculation, journalist and The Bachelorette star Love, 36, and husband Elliott, 44, took to social media to confirm in February that they’d split after almost four years of marriage.
“There is no drama, no bad blood,” they insisted. “Just two people who have grown in different directions.”

Monica Bellucci and Tim Burton
In a joint statement released on September 19, actress Bellucci, 61, and filmmaker Burton, 67, said it was “with much respect and deep care for each other” they’d “decided to part ways” after two years together.
The pair worked together on 2024’s Beetlejuice Beetlejuice.

Marion Cotillard & Guillaume Canet
After 18 years together, Oscar-winning actress Cotillard, 50, and film director Canet, 52, called time on their relationship “by mutual agreement” and “made with mutual goodwill”, per a statement shared on June 27.
The couple are parents to Marcel, 14, and Louise, 8.

Chris Martin & Dakota Johnson
While actress Johnson, 36, and Coldplay’s Martin, 48, broke up multiple times during their eight-year relationship, sources told People in June, “It feels final this time.”
Engagement rumours were sparked in 2020, but an insider told the outlet in 2024 they’d been engaged for “years”.
