Amy Poehler has won the first-ever Golden Globe in the Best Podcast Category after it made its debut this year. And, while it’s a historic moment for both the comedian and the award show, Poehler also beat her ex Will Arnett to claim the prize.
“I know that I am new to this game. I have great respect for this form,” Poehler said while accepting her award. “I have great respect for everyone I am nominated with. I am big fans of all of you.”
Will Arnett co-hosts the podcast SmartLess alongside Jason Bateman and Sean Hayes. However, it was no match against Good Hangs with Amy Poehler that launched less than a year ago in March 2025.
Here’s everything we know about the couple after the Golden Globes snub:
How long were the couple together?
The pair met in New York City when Arnett saw Poehler’s improv group perform, according to People. Sparks began to fly and the comedy couple tied the knot in August 2003.
They went on to share the screen on a number of occasions, from infamously playing oddly-intimate siblings in Blades of Glory to guess starring in one another’s respective shows, including Parks and Recreation and Arrested Development.

They have two children together, and were beloved for being a power couple of comedy. However, sadly for fans, they announced their split in September 2012.
Since parting ways with Will, many fans of the OG Mean Girls ‘Cool Mum’ have kept an equally close eye on her life away from the spotlight and after months of speculation, it appears the star now has a new romance – now dating former New York Times editor Joel Lovell.
