Barry Williams may have exited I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! Australia earlier than fans hoped, but one thing is clear: viewers are still completely obsessed.
Many are convinced he would have cruised straight into the finals if this season relied on public voting – and he totally agrees.
“They’ll have to have me back when it’s a popularity contest,” Williams told WHO.
What do the contestants eat off camera on I’m A Celeb?
Here’s the answer everyone wanted – and it’s brutal.
“Nothing,” he told WHO. “Four tablespoons of porridge in the morning. That’s it.
“Rice and beans don’t come until late afternoon.”

No snacks. No energy bars. No sneaking food. Williams admitted it was a huge challenge for him during his time in The Jungle.
“It’s the hardest part of the show. Everybody lost weight. I lost around three pounds!”
Are there random jungle rules we don’t know about?
Some of the strictest rules had nothing to do with challenges, Williams explained.
Among the most unusual, campmates need to wear their microphones at all times – even when they’re on the toilet at 3am.
The campmates also don’t wear deodorant (soap only), have no hot water, can’t wear watches, have a calendar, and definitely no phones.
“If you stare at the ground long enough, it comes alive,” Barry said, recalling cobras, monkeys, and baboons regularly wandering through camp. Crickey.
Can contestants smoke/vape in the jungle?
The short answer is no – they’re also not allowed to drink.
“No wine, nothing,” Williams said. “I’m not a smoker or a drinker, so I was cool with that, but I thought for many people that would be the hardest thing.
“You can’t even sneak anything in!”

Do contestants really not know the time?
According to Williams – no! And, with no sense of days or dates, time warped quickly.
“I thought it was Wednesday. Turns out we’d only been there two nights.”
Life ran purely on the sun – wake at sunrise, sleep after sunset.
It’s truly back-to-basics living in The Jungle. But surprisingly, Barry loved it.
“It was nice to know I could live without all the things I thought I depended on. No phone. No contact with anyone you love. That’s what we signed up for.”
Why did Barry Williams do I’m A Celeb?
For Barry, the appeal of the show went far beyond reality TV. He’d long dreamed of doing a safari – roughing it, living close to animals, stepping completely out of his comfort zone.
“This actually seemed even better,” he explained. “I got to do a real safari before we started, then live off-grid in a campground with new people, doing all these zany, crazy challenges. That really appealed to my personality.”

What also surprised him was the tone of the show. “It’s not mean-spirited. You’re competing, but really on behalf of your campmates. The drama people see sometimes? That’s just a little spice for TV.”
Who is Barry Williams backing to win?
With no idea how the season ends, Barry has plenty of favourites and for very different reasons.
Conchetta, for her quiet strength that explodes during challenges, Dyson, a natural leader and coach, Luke, the ultimate mountain man who can cook, compete, and stay level-headed, and Gary Sweet, who Williams bonded with deeply over their shared acting careers.
“Luke would be a very appropriate winner,” Barry says. “That guy can do anything.”
