Big Brother Australia is back, baby! Strap in for weeks of drama, wacky challenges, and a front-row seat to the most unhinged (and boring) facets of human behaviour.
The format of the show is primed for all of the above, but in true BB fashion, viewers can watch the housemates all day and all night if they want to, with a live stream rolling across 10Play and TikTok.
The season kicked off on Monday night, and while housemates got acquainted with each other, and Mike Goldman — the infamous voice of BB — had to step out to defend the show against a major gripe fans already have about this season, it appears there’s a new one now bubbling away and infuriating them.
Housemate Harmon, 29, even alluded to it when he spoke to WHO before entering the Big Brother house.
What is annoying fans about the live stream?
There’s only been one episode and less than 24 hours’ worth of footage, but viewers “hate” seeing the housemates play up to camera.
Now, this has always been the case. Who among us doesn’t feel themselves change when a camera is pointed at them?
However, the housemates have been very obvious about it so far, breaking the ‘fourth wall’ and talking to the cameras dotted around the house.
“I thought housemates weren’t allowed to talk to the cameras?” one viewer asked online, expressing how they didn’t like it.
“They started this crap last year; it’s very annoying,” another chimed in.
“I hate it when they do that . They should have the cameras hidden,” a third wrote.
Housemates are told not to have any direct interaction with the cameras and can result in house-wide warnings, strikes, or even disciplinary action from Big Brother. The only place housemates are supposed to talk to production is in the diary room.
Housemate Harmon confessed it would be difficult to ‘switch off’
Ahead of entering the house, Harmon, 29, told WHO he was mindful his behaviour would likely be performative to begin with.
“Well, I’m assuming Big Brother chooses big personalities, so I would like to be around that and see how I’m challenged, because everyone has a mask on at the end of the day, even me now,” he said.

“So I want to see when that comes off, how do I feel? Because it’s going to be 24/7, right? It’s not like I can switch off.”
Time will tell whether the housemates will face disciplinary action for talking straight to the camera, or if Big Brother might let it slide, but one thing we know for sure is that viewers hate it.
