The couple first went public with their relationship back in 2023 during a PDA-filled stroll in Los Angeles.
A source told PEOPLE that the pair remain “very amicable” despite their split.
Why did Bill Hader and Ali Wong break up?
According to PEOPLE, the pair struggled to spend time together as a result of their shared busy schedules and family obligations.
“It was too difficult to make the relationship work with Ali’s upcoming stand up tour and Bill’s various film and tv projects this year,” the insider explains.
Now, “they’re focusing on their work and kids, while continuing to support and root for each other.”
The source concludes: “They are very much friends and still in touch.”
When did cracks in their relationship first appear?
Fans have been speculating about the former couple’s relationship since early last year, after the 2025 Golden Globes.
Alarm bells went off in many people’s heads when Ali didn’t walk the red carpet with Bill, or even thank him in her acceptance speech.
The actress won Best Performance in Stand-Up Comedy on Television for her Netflix special Single Lady.
However, a representative for Hader at the time told PEOPLE that their relationship was still going strong and that he missed the event due to a health issue.

In her Netflix special Ali Wong: Single Lady, the comedian shared that Bill reached out to her when he found out she was getting a divorce.
After getting her number from a mutual friend, Ali shared that he told her he had a crush on her “forever” and asked her to be his girlfriend.
She laughed as she revealed he even sent her flowers during her trip to Europe.
She explained during the show: “I did fall in love again. Some of you might know who the guy is. And it just so happens to be the man who sent me all of those flowers in Europe.”

Ali Wong was previously married to businessman Justin Hakuta for eight years.
The couple, who share daughters Mari, 9, and Nikki, 7, announced their divorce in April 2022.
Wong gushed over their amicable relationship post-divorce in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.
“We’re really, really close; we’re best friends, we’ve been through so much together. It’s a very unconventional divorce,” she explained.
