Two months after tying the knot with Jordyn Blum at their Los Angeles home on August 2, 2003, Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl offered up relationship advice in an interview with Teen People magazine.
“Honesty is the best policy,” he said, adding that his new bride was “pretty much” the first person he’d ever been truly honest with. “Now I’ve got nothing to hide. When you’re not trying to be someone else, being honest is easy.”
Just over two decades on, it’s become a bit trickier. Fans were floored on September 10 when the rocker, who shares daughters Violet, 18, Harper, 15, and Ophelia, 10, with Blum, broke big news on Instagram.
“I’ve recently become the father of a new baby daughter, born outside of my marriage,” he posted. “I plan to be a loving and supportive parent to her. I love my wife and my children, and I am doing everything I can to regain their trust and earn their forgiveness.”
While a source told People that Blum, 48, had known “for a while” about the love child, she was said to be “shocked” at the news. “Dave’s flirty behaviour has been a hurdle in their marriage. It’s been hurtful to Jordyn,” an insider said.
Who is the mother of Dave Grohl’s love child?
The rocker, 55, did not disclose any information about the baby’s mother in his post, but amid the fallout, a social media user shared a since-deleted photo of a newborn, claiming it to be Grohl’s.
“My sweet Roxie Junie Grohl, being your mama has already been the most incredible experience of my life. Every day, I fall more in love with you and this new role,” she captioned the post, gushing that “you are truly a Grohl through and through”.
Grohl’s camp swiftly debunked the story and TMZ reported that they spoke with the anonymous poster, who said, “I’m sorry this was a fake page we just wanted followers! We’re minors!”
In lieu of concrete information, online sleuths have come up with a theory that the baby mama might be Australian.
They note the Foo Fighters’ most recent Australian tour began in Perth on November 29, 2023 and continued with more shows across the country until mid-December 2023.
Grohl and Blum last appeared publicly at a 2024 Wimbledon match in July.
“So excited to see my students, Dave and Jordyn,” their tennis coach, Christopher Crabb, wrote on Instagram, sharing a pic of the couple. “They always look stylish on and off the tennis court.”
The comments came before the Daily Mail quoted an insider claiming that Crabb had caused issues between the couple.
“Dave Grohl has been jealous for ages about Jordyn’s hot tennis coach,” the insider said. “They’ve had arguments about him, and Dave thinks they’ve flirted. Jordyn has told him he’s crazy to even think that. But Dave has persisted.”
The rumour mill isn’t letting Grohl off lightly, either. Sources told the New York Post that the former Nirvana drummer, who has been accused of infidelity in the past, had become questionably close to Annaliese Neilsen, 40, known for founding erotic site God’s Girls in 2006.
Sources claimed Neilsen bragged that Grohl had paid her bills and had planned to go on tour with him as recently as 2019. Neilsen denied she was his new baby’s mother.
“That is a person who I had a brief friendship with who I know through friends of friends,” she told the New York Post. “I have nothing to say except for that is absolutely false.”
However, on September 18, the Mail Online quoted friends of Neilsen’s who claimed she often spoke about her 15-year affair with Grohl. “She talked about it so much. She did share screenshots,” the outlet quotes her friend Claire Wilson. “People openly talked about the fact that she openly talked about being his side piece.”
Again, Neilsen denied the claims, telling the Daily Mail, “I have met Dave casually in passing a couple of times and he was polite and funny during our extremely brief interactions and that’s the end of anything I could say about him.”
According to People, Grohl had retained a divorce lawyer before making his baby announcement.
Blum, meanwhile, is reportedly leaning on friends, including actress Kate Hudson. “Kate told Jordyn she’s there for her 24/7 and not to hesitate to pick up the phone even if it’s for a good cry or if she needs her to come over for a hug and a heart-to-heart,” a source told the Daily Mail, adding, “Kate would stay with her in a heartbeat if she asked.”
The actress reportedly sent a “basket of balloons with personalised phrases on them including ‘Stay Strong’” to her friend. “She was surprised and disgusted that at Dave’s age he’s still cheating on not only Jordyn, but their girls, too,” the source said.
