When news first broke that Farmer Andrew and Claire Saunders had cancelled their wedding – audiences were shocked. The announcement, made by Claire via Instagram, came as a complete surprise to audiences who had followed the couple’s wedding plans following their happy ending on the 2023 season of Farmer Wants a Wife.
“My dogs and I have headed north to Darwin to work for the dry season,” Claire, who moved to Farmer Andrew’s farm in Narromine shortly after leaving the show together wrote on Instagram in early July. “Andrew and I have had to cancel our wedding due to reasons out of our control, but we are both okay.”

“I’m not sure what else to say other than, sometimes life is hard and we all just need a little breathing space,” she continued. “There will be no farming content from me for the foreseeable future.”
While some held out hope that the wedding would still be taking place at a later date, eagle-eyed Farmer fans later spotted that Claire had listed her wedding dress for sale.
Sharing her listing to Facebook Marketplace, the former contestant wrote, “Selling my beautiful dress, it actually looks better in real life,” before listing that the dress was available to pick up in either her hometown of Launceston, Dubbo, or Andrew’s farming town of Narromine.
When a fan posted an earlier message on Instagram, hoping that she and Andrew could “work through things”, Claire responded by saying “thank you”.
We are both okay and I’m only in Darwin for a couple of months. Heading back to the farm after the racing carnival finishes.”
“We are okay,” she confirmed in another reply.
The comment gave fans hope that the couple may still be together – especially since Claire’s initial announcement only referenced that pair’s wedding was cancelled, not their relationship.

At the time, a fellow FWAW co-star anonymously claimed to Yahoo Lifestyle that Andrew and Claire had not completely split, but had in fact been “having a break”.
But after that date it’s clear things deteriorated between the couple, with Andrew breaking his silence on the split in a rare social media post.
Additionally, Claire has spoken out about the ups and downs of their relationship.

“Both Andrew and I are hurting and we both haven’t known how to cope with it all, especially with our relationship being so public,” Claire wrote in a post before taking time out from social media for a while.
“Andrew will always be the love of my life. I have always been safe in our relationship. Mental health is a tough road to walk down so make sure you surround yourself with your people. Heartbreak makes us say and do silly things. Life is hard so please just be kind to each other.”
Claire and Andrew first announced their engagement in March 2023, just as they celebrated their first anniversary together.
The pair left the 2023 season of Farmer Wants a Wife Australia early, after Andrew decided to send the remaining girls home, telling Woman’s Day in a sit-down interview shortly after their exit that they would be taking it “one day at a time.”
“We have a nice positive thing going here and it is good to finally get to show the world our happiness,” Claire, told the publication at the time, before adding that the pair have already discussed having children.
“It would be nice to have twins first up and then see what would happen after that,” Claire explained.
“We’re approaching it with the mindset of, let’s enjoy one another first for a period of time and make memories of our own, and if things keep evolving in a positive manner, then that’ll come,” Andrew added.
