Emily Weir and her Home and Away co-star Tristan Gorey have excellent chemistry on-screen, but has that translated into a real-life romance, too?
That’s the question many fans have been asking over the years, thanks to the pair’s close friendship.
To add fuel to the fire, the pair also often share behind-the-scenes footage of Home and Away on their Instagram accounts and share cute comments on each other’s posts.
Most recently, Tristan shared a video from the premiere of The Lion King stage show in Sydney, where Emily commented, “Looking super stylish hunnnayyy ❤️,” to which he replied, “Thanks Wifey!”
It’s prompted many to notice the close relationship they have.

On-screen, the pair are involved in a steamy romance, with Tristan playing Levi Fowler, a surgeon and brother to Eden Fowler (Stephanie Panozzo).
He gets involved with Emily’s character, Mackenzie Booth, whose previous relationships haven’t worked out all that well!
The couple have been through a lot of drama, including trying to build a family and also dealing with Mackenzie suffering a heartbreaking miscarriage.
Tristan took to Instagram last year with a post featuring him sharing a warm embrace with Emily.
In the caption, he wrote: “Summer lovin’ in Summer Bay. Will @weir.emily ever love @tristangorey back?”
While this left some questioning whether Emily and Tristan are a real-life item, this isn’t the first time fans have suspected an off-screen romance between the duo.
In a video shared on the Home and Away Instagram account in 2024, the actors took part in a “best friends challenge” to see how well they knew each other.
Emily successfully vouched for Tristan’s love of country music, but she was taken aback when he said she liked cats more than dogs (clearly not the case!)
After completing the challenge, they exchanged cute compliments, with Emily saying she liked Tristan’s kindness.
Their natural ease with one another wasn’t dampening many fans’ enthusiasm for the concept of them as an off-screen couple.
“I love you guys as a couple on Home and Away, I wish you guys went out in real life, perfect match,” one fan wrote.
That prompted Tristan to reply: “She could only dream!”
“Maybe she does?” another fan cheekily responded.
But it seems a real-life romance isn’t really on the cards.
When a fan asked if Tristan could start dating Emily in real life, he tagged his co-star and asked her the question. But Emily’s response – a shake of the head and a no – quashed any real-life romance rumours.
Since then, neither has confirmed that they are dating.
Tristan has previously shared a very sweet birthday message to Emily, revealing the depth of their platonic love.
He wrote: “One might find it hard to find all the words to describe Emily Weir. Many of you know her for her role as one of the pillar characters in Home & Away – Mackenzie. The answer is … unknown! Emily keeps her private life under wraps, and it’s unknown if she’s dating anyone in particular.
In the past, Emily has talked more generally about previous relationships without naming names.
“Once for my birthday, a partner paid for me to go to China for 10 days and we visited the Great Wall and the Forbidden City. It was epic,” she told New Idea in 2019 when asked the most romantic thing a partner had ever done for her.
Asked about her idea of a perfect date, she said: “A good meal, an open fire, some music and a game of cards or a board game.”
And she revealed a little about one of her favourite nights out with a date – again without naming names.
“I was dating someone when I was living in Europe whom I met on a Contiki tour,” she revealed.
“We went out for drinks in bars around Prague and that was pretty cool.”
