When Star Wars and Indiana Jones legend Harrison Ford and Ally McBeal actress Calista Flockhart first went public as a couple in the early 2000s, many people wondered if it would last.
There was the 22-year age gap, for starters – Ford was 59 at the time and Flockhart was 37.
But their love story has managed to stand the test of time, with Ford recently crediting his wife for giving his life ‘’purpose and meaning’’.
Here’s what we know about their relationship so far.

How did Harrison Ford meet Calista Flockhart?
The couple first met at the Golden Globes in 2002 and instantly hit it off, despite reports that Flockhart actually threw a drink over Ford at the A-list event.
‘’She certainly did not purposely spill a glass of wine on me,’’ Ford said later.
‘’We were having a conversation for maybe 20 minutes before the wine spilled, and the truth is, Harrison spilled the wine!’’ Flockhart clarified.

A year after their first encounter at the Golden Globes, Ford – normally reserved when talking about his private life – declared in a magazine interview: ‘’I’m in love.’’
‘’Romantic love is one of the most exciting and fulfilling kinds of love and I think there is potential for it at any stage of your life,’’ said Ford, then 60.
‘’I was not surprised that I was able to fall in love, and I wasn’t surprised that I did.’’
Flockhart, who was constantly questioned about the age gap, once said in a magazine interview: ‘’Wow, I keep forgetting that he’s 22 years older than me.’’
‘’It doesn’t factor into our relationship at all,’’ she continued. ‘’I like the way he looks first thing in the morning. It’s not handsome, it’s more cute. He looks like a little boy.’’

How long did Harrison Ford and Calista Flockhart date for?
A year after meeting, Flockhart moved into Ford’s Los Angeles home along with her adopted son Liam, who was two years old at the time.
By the time Ford met Flockhart, he had been married twice – to Mary Marquardt (1964-1979) and Melissa Mathison (1983-2004).
He was already a father to four children – two sons with Marquardt, born in 1966 and 1969, and a son and daughter (born 1987 and 1990) with Mathison, who died in 2015.
That didn’t stop Ford from wanting to tie the knot again – although it took a few years for him and Flockhart to walk down the aisle.

Are Harrison Ford and Calista Flockhart married?
Ford and Flockhart married in 2010 after he proposed on a Valentine’s Day weekend vacation the year before.
He later adopted Flockhart’s son Liam, with whom he became very close.
The pair married in New Mexico, where Ford was filming Cowboys and Aliens at the time.
The venue was the Governor’s Mansion in Santa Fe and the ceremony was presided over by the Governor, Bill Richardson.
In 2015, the couple, who both love to fly, had a huge scare when Ford crashed his vintage plane on an LA golf course.
Ford, then 72, was seriously injured, with Flockhart barely leaving his side as he recovered in hospital.
Speaking a few months after the crash, Flockhart described it as a ‘’really hard, scary time’’, but adding that there had been a silver lining.
‘’I think it just makes you realise once again that life can turn on a dime, and we just have to appreciate every second we’re here, because you never know.’’

What do Harrison Ford and Calista Flockhart say about their marriage?
Giving a speech at the Cannes Film Festival in 2023, Ford talked about the gratitude he felt towards his wife.
‘’My life has been enabled by my lovely wife, who has supported my passions and my dreams and I’m grateful,’’ he said.
‘’And you know I love you too.
‘’You’ve given my life purpose and meaning and I’m grateful for that, so grateful.’’
When Ford was honoured with a Career Achievement Award at the Critics Choice Awards earlier this year, Flockhart said she was incredibly emotional.
‘’His body of work is so incredible,’’ she told EW.
‘’And it’s so well-deserved, so yeah, I’m very proud of him and happy for him.’’
After taking two decades out from Hollywood to raise Liam, Flockhart, now 59, recently made her return to the small screen playing New York socialite Lee Radziwill in the miniseries Feud: Capote vs The Swans.
Ford, now 81, most recently appeared in Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, released last year.
