Inside Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner’s co-parenting life

'It's such an amazing part of life.'

They may have won some of the most prestigious awards in entertainment, but Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner hold their title as Mum and Dad most dear.

Welcoming their two daughters Willa and Delphine in 2020 and 2022, Jonas and Turner have kept their family largely out of the spotlight, however, the former couple have shared a few rare insights into their co-parenting relationship and life with their growing children.

While their parents may have taken showbusiness by storm, Turner shared with The Sunday Times that she would discourage her daughters from stepping into the spotlight at a young age.

“I’d say to any parent if your child wants to get into the industry, wait until their frontal lobe has formed, which is 25. I would highly discourage them from getting into it before they can fully process what that means.”

After welcoming her two daughters, Turner has also reflected on how her latest role as a mother has added an extra layer of depth to her acting repertoire.

“I feel like the empathy and the concept of family has made me entirely a much more emotional person… It’s made me a better actor, becoming a mother, because as an actor, the only way to become a real brilliant actor is to experience as much life as possible and to bring those experiences in,” she told the Unwrapped podcast in 2022.

Prior to welcoming their daughter Delphine, Jonas also reflected on his experience of fatherhood, telling People, “You really don’t know what to expect… It’s such an amazing part of life… It’s been amazing to be a dad and to learn every day.”

Following the release of her latest series Joan, Turner told The Sunday Times, “If I hadn’t been a mother, I don’t know if I would have been able to bring the same energy to [her portrayal of Joan Hannington] that I did into it. It’s such a struggle being a single mother. Joan doesn’t go about it in the best way, but it is amazing to see her really fighting for her daughter.”

Despite keeping their family life out of the spotlight, Turner and Jonas’ co-parent relationship was brought to the forefront amidst their highly-publicised custody battle following their divorce in September 2023.

While they may no longer be a couple, Turner shared that she endeavours to maintain a loving co-parenting relationship with Jonas, telling British Vogue, “My dream is to have a huge Christmas where my daughters can have their dad there, Joe’s whole side of the family, their grandparents. I don’t care about politics, I just want the girls to feel loved and have everyone show up for them.”
