Over eight months since the couple announced their split, Sophie Turner has opened up for the first time on her divorce from Joe Jonas.
The 28-year-old actress spoke candidly in conversation with British Vogue about the immediate aftermath of their divorce announcement, telling the publication, “Those were the worst few days of my life.”
Reflecting on the days following the announcement, Sophie addressed the landslide of media speculation that her divorce stemmed from her reputation as a mother to the couple’s two children, Willa, 4, and Delphine, 2, sharing that the intense scrutiny “hurt because I really do torture myself over every move I make as a mother.”
“I just kept having to say to myself, ‘None of this is true. You are a good mum and you’ve never been a partier.”
Further addressing the rumours, Sophie added, “It’s unfathomable the amount of people that will just make s*** up and put it up based on a picture… It felt like I was watching a movie of my life that I hadn’t written, hadn’t produced, or starred in. It was shocking. I’m still in shock.”

While headlines were dominated with alleged details of the couple’s October 2023 custody agreement, Sophie revealed that behind the scenes, “There were some days that I didn’t know if I was going to make it. I would call my lawyer saying, ‘I can’t do this. I just can’t.”
“I was just never strong enough to stand up for myself… [my lawyer] reminded me that it was my children I was fighting for. Once anyone says to me, ‘Do it for your kids,’ I’m doing it.”
Looking to the future, the Game of Thrones star added that despite her romantic relationship with Joe officially coming to an end, she believes that the former couple will be able to build a co-parenting relationship.
“My dream is to have a huge Christmas where my daughters can have their dad there, Joe’s whole side of the family, their grandparents. I don’t care about politics, I just want the girls to feel loved and have everyone show up for them.”

Sophie’s most recent interview comes less than one year after she and Joe Jonas confirmed announced they would be divorcing after four years of marriage.
“After four wonderful years of marriage we have mutually decided to amicably end our marriage,” the couple wrote in a joint statement to Instagram.
“There are many speculative narratives as to why but, truly this is a united decision and we sincerely hope that everyone can respect our wishes for privacy for us and our children.”
News of the couple’s split followed less than 24 hours after rumours first began to surface that Joe had filed for divorce, with documents obtained by TODAY reporting that the singer filed a petition for dissolution of marriage on September 5, 2023, in Miami, Flordia.

Since announcing their divorce in September 2023, both Sophie and Joe appear to have found love again with their new respective partners, with Sophie now linked to British aristocrat Peregrine Pearson and Joe now linked to Stormi Bree.
While the couple have not spoken publicly on their new relationships, the two couples have been photographed together on numerous occasions, with Joe and Stormi most recently spotted together on the Australian leg of the Jonas Brothers’ 2024 Tour.
