But Mary Fowler more than held her own as she strutted her stuff on the historic Hôtel de Ville catwalk in Paris alongside the biggest names in fashion and show business for L’Oréal.

The Matildas forward, 22, became the first professional footballer on the catwalk for the luxe beauty label on September 29, 2025.

Why was Mary Fowler on the catwalk in Paris?

While she had admitted to being “a little nervous” ahead of her debut, once on the stage, Mary walked with confidence, fluffing out her gorgeous natural curls and blowing a kiss to the crowd of 2500 guests.

“Stepping onto the runway was an exhilarating experience and different from anything I’ve experienced on the football pitch,” she said.

Normally seen in sportswear with her afro tucked back in a ponytail, Mary cut a fine figure as she modelled a one-sleeved black gown with a plunging neckline by Christian Siriano.

Boyfriend Nathan Cleary was clearly impressed. “Wowww,” he captioned a video on Instagram of her big moment.

As with fans, who delighted in seeing her looking so natural while taking centrestage.

“Love her and love her hair,” commented one social media user. “Making us proud on and off the field,” added another.

Mary signed on as an ambassador for the beauty brand in 2024. She is the star of their campaign focusing on “women’s empowerment” across Australia and New Zealand.

Does Mary Fowler still play soccer?

She has recently had time off from soccer after rupturing her ACL while playing in the Women’s FA semi-final in April.

But the athlete is hoping to be back on the field soon.
